It wasn’t chilly out this past Saturday, Jan. 28, and the 26th annual MVY Radio Big Chili Contest at the Portuguese-American Club in Oak Bluffs made it even warmer with live music, flowing drinks, and dozens of kinds of chili to try from the vendors.
The Red Stocking Fund will profit by about $35,000 from the event, which sold 2,200 tickets and saw 26 chili competitors, according to Greg Orcutt of MVY Radio.
In the amateur category, winners were Chris Silva in first, Kate Pierce in second place, and the Mutti Family in third place.
In the professional category, The Little Red Smokehouse won first, The Black Dog won second, and JR Brody’s won third. Steve Jordan won the Hottest Chili category once again, and MVOL’s Chocolate Chili Squares won the “Is it really chili?” category.
