Is it just me, or does everyone seem super busy for this time of year that we are supposed to be moving a little slower? Lately there are just not enough hours in the day! At least it’s staying light out later, but man, I look forward to setting the clocks forward and really feeling like we have a bit more breathing room on the whole waking hours thing. Oh well, better to be busy than slowly watching winter roll along, I suppose.

Marnely Rodriguez has been keeping busy maintaining a food blog called Cooking with Books (cookingwithbooks.blogspot.com) in which she writes about new cookbooks in the market, trends, and recipes. Marnely is a professional baker and food writer, originally from the Dominican Republic, who recently married a Cape Codder and landed in Edgartown, where she and her husband now live and work. The MV Center for Living is holding its second in a series of cultural luncheons for 2012 on Saturday, March 10, from 12 noon to 2 pm, at The Grill on Main in Edgartown. The luncheon will honor our Island Brazilian community. The program speaker is Valci Carvalho.
Mr. Carvalho, pastor of the Alliance Community Church, has lived on the Vineyard for 11 years and has a lot of good insight into human behavior and a great sense of humor. He will offer a close look at the contributions and influences of the Brazilian community to the island of Martha’s Vineyard.
Following the talk, Dan Waters will perform on the guitar. Also, a group of Brazilian dancers is coming in to entertain luncheon-goers with a dance performance to gospel music! Brighten up the winter doldrums with this sparkling and informative cultural luncheon and support the MV Center for Living in its efforts to make a better tomorrow for the 55+ community.
