While Mardi Gras was being celebrated with parades, floats, and beer-drinking in New Orleans, Islanders celebrated at Offshore Ale’s annual Fat Tuesday party on February 21. Staff turned the restaurant into its own Bourbon Street with music; falling beads; a French Quarter menu with fried alligator and okra, fried catfish, po’ boy sandwiches, and more; and for dessert, the traditional beignets (some served with a baby in them that won the table a free entrée, a variation of the New Orleans tradition typically done with King Cakes).
