A community to thank

To the Editor:

Before the school year comes to a close, I want to acknowledge the many volunteers who contribute in so many ways to our school community.

The Tisbury School is quite fortunate to be supported by individuals and groups who demonstrate their care for the school through volunteering their time, energy, and talents. There are volunteers in our school every day, and we benefit tremendously from their commitment.

Our parent-teacher organization supports our work with children throughout the year and shows unequalled initiative in making our school a better place. Our school committee and school advisory council are dedicated to ensuring that Tisbury School students are afforded the best possible opportunities to learn and grow.

Additionally, we have senior volunteers from Read MV who work weekly with elementary students, sharing a love of books and reading. Members of the United States Coast Guard have volunteered in our school, as have representatives from the MV Law Enforcement Council, including Buster. Other groups who have made meaningful contributions to our school include MV Community Services, the Youth Task Force, the Dukes County Sheriff’s Association, the Cape Cod Symphony Orchestra, the Dukes County Courthouse, the YMCA, Polly Hill Arboretum, the Martha’s Vineyard Preservation Trust, The Trustees of Reservations, the Martha’s Vineyard Museum, and the Vineyard Haven Public Library.

A countless number of individuals have enriched our school and our students’ experiences. Whether it’s providing snacks, helping out in classrooms, supervising extracurricular activities, or working in the school garden, we are truly fortunate to have volunteers who are so caring. Thank you to all who have given to the school over the course of this year. We are grateful and appreciative.
