Boys and girls hockey teams skated to wins over the weekend.

The Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School girls and boys hockey teams took to the road on Saturday, and both skated to shutout wins.

Texe Craig posted her second consecutive shutout as the girls earned an important Southeastern Mass. Girls Hockey League win over Scituate, 3-0, at Milton Academy.

The Vineyarders (4-3) scored once in each period. Sydney Davies scored from Aubrey Ashmun in the first, Emily Cimeno tallied in the second stanza, and Davies got her second, again from Ashmun, in the third.

The boys traveled to Nantucket via Woods Hole and Hyannis and beat the Whalers, 4-0.

The teams were scoreless after one period but the Vineyarders (6-1) broke the game open with three goals in the second. Kyp Cooperrider scored the first and third goals, and Tyson Araujo netted the second. Araujo wrapped up the game with a goal in third.

Alexander Vukota was a defensive standout and added three assists to boot. Max Davies had two assists. Vineyard netminder Wyatt Jenkinson recorded his second shutout in a week.

The girls and the boys are back in action on Wednesday. The girls play at Hanover while the boys open the Eastern Athletic Conference schedule against archrival Coyle Cassidy at the M.V. Arena. The puck drops at 4:30 pm.
