The Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School girls and boys track teams scored impressive wins over Eastern Athletic Conference rival Bishop Stang in the final home dual meet of the season, last Wednesday in Oak Bluffs. Both teams improved to 2-2.
The girls beat the Spartans, 87-49. Juniper Ezanno and Olivia Smith won three events each. Juniper won the 100 meters (14.5), long jump (14’ 8”), and triple jump (31’ 1”), while Olivia placed first in the 100-meter high hurdles (16.6), 400-meter hurdles (70.5), and the high jump (4’ 6”). Grace Oslyn took the shot put (26’ 10.5”) and the discus (70’ 8”). Julia Hart won the 200 meters and joined teammates Juniper Ezanno, Mariah Campbell, and Madison Moreis to place first in the 4 x 100 relay.
The boys downed the Spartans by a nearly identical 89-47 count. George Sykes qualified for the state meet in the two-mile run with a time of 10:44. Joe Turney won the javelin (149’ 4”) and the long jump (18’ 6”). Chase Silvia won the high jump, placed second in the long jump, and posted a pair of thirds, in the 400-meter hurdles and 110-meter high hurdles. Tony Breth leaped 38’ to win the triple jump.
