Pot logo is a bust

To the Editor:

First, I would like to comment on a story published last week about a heroin bust on Island (“Latest heroin arrest spurs police warning of overdose risks”).  The picture that accompanied the article of the illicit drugs and paraphernalia had a patch from The Martha’s Vineyard Drug task force. In the middle of the patch is a large marijuana leaf. Being that recreational marijuana use is decriminalized and medical marijuana is legal in the Commonwealth, I think it’s time for the drug task force to rethink its logo.

Next, to the 30 or so residents who are so concerned about access to Lambert’s Cove beach that they want the dune lowered (“West Tisbury residents seek improved access to Lambert’s Cove Beach”). Does your compassion for those to access the beach also extend to the general public? Wouldn’t the Island be a more friendly place if you allowed the general public to cycle, bus, or walk to the beach?
