When a Bikram yoga instructor from Michigan decided to start a cold-press juice company, she never thought it’d make her the talk of the town. But that’s just what’s happening with Remedy MV, Jane Ford’s new cold-pressed, raw juice company. Edgartown has been buzzing with excitement as the brand has partnered with a variety of local companies like the Kelley House, Lululemon in Edgartown, and Edgartown Meat & Fish Market.

Ms. Ford originally started juicing for close friends while she was working as a caretaker, where she provided

the usual services but incorporated juicing into her services as well. The death of a close, dear friend motivated her to pursue her dreams of what is now Remedy MV, a one-woman-owned business that makes juice nightly at the Edgartown Meat & Fish Market. A couple of months ago, she walked into the market and talked to owner Sean Ready about the possibility of using his commercial kitchen to juice. Instantly, Sean loved the idea. He had previously thought of the possibility of doing it himself, but was happy to have Jane pursue her dream in his kitchen.

“It has always been my dream to own my own business, having come from a business-driven and -oriented family. My mother owns hot dog carts in Michigan, and growing up, her passion and drive were some of the qualities she passed on to me,” says Ms. Ford as she juices fresh watermelon in her Norwalk juicer.

It’s 9 pm, and we’re standing in the Edgartown Meat & Fish Market kitchen surrounded by gorgeous produce ready to be juiced. Without pasteurization or preservatives, her cold-press juicing method, handcrafted and pressed in small batches, minimizes oxidation, and yields exceptional juice packed with vitamins, minerals, and live enzymes.

She sources as locally and as organic as possible, creating unique and delicious blends of raw juices. Her varieties include:

  • Green Monster: green apple, kale, spinach, cucumber, basil, lemon
  • heartBEET: apple, beetroot, ginger, lemon
  • The Crush: pineapple, cucumber, coconut water, jalapeño
  • The Glow: grapefruit, blood orange, lime, ginger, mint
  • sweetTART: apple, lemon, ginger
  • Summer Love: watermelon, lemon, mint
  • Vanilla Nut Dream: almonds, dates, sea salt, vanilla bean

The six juices and a nut milk can be purchased directly from the Edgartown Meat & Fish Market individually, or you can check out remedymv.com to order one-, three-, or five-day juice cleanses. If you’re wondering how to include cleanses in your everyday lifestyle, Ms. Ford has some advice. For most of us, the “life/work balance” is a common conversation subject, as we all endlessly try to achieve it. Ms. Ford believes that maybe we should all be thinking more about “life/work integration” instead. It’s a lifestyle where we focus on finding our passions and pursuing our dreams; where we integrate self-soothing moments like yoga, meditation, or walks on your favorite Island beach as part of our daily rituals. After all, we live among all of this beauty; we should truly be able to enjoy it.

Fuel yourself with a juice from Remedy MV, and know you’ll be supporting a small business on-Island, one that hopes to guide you on the path of a healthier, cleaner lifestyle.
