Oak Bluffs: Car free living

As we say farewell to July, I am wishing for more rain and more patience. The lawns and flowers are struggling to look fresh and new, and I think I have spent way too much time looking in amazement at how drivers decide to navigate the four-way stop near the new fire station. We have the undecided drivers who just wait, looking as if they are waiting for the (nonexistent) traffic light to turn green. Then the drivers who decide that they will just follow the car in front of them right through the intersection. I can’t decide if my favorite is the driver who slides through making a turn as he is texting on his cell phone or the ones who attempt give you a fierce stare as they boldly proceed whenever they want to. Here is a brief lesson. When you come to a four-way stop, the driver to the immediate right of the last car to go through the intersection, is the next one to go through — and so it continues round and round. Let’s see if this helps.

This also is a free program.
