This week’s Flanders Field softball players enjoyed a beautiful Sunday morning with 30 folks warming up by 7:40 am. The first game featured five outfielders on Arlen Roth’s team. When grumbling arose, attending commissioners reminded everyone that the only rule is that there are no rules. Roth’s team beat Hans Solmssen’s team 13-6. The second game was a squeaker as Sig Van Raan’s team got by the combined pitching of Roth and Solmssen 4-3. Glad to know Sig Van Raan’s rotator cuff aggravation has healed enough for him to swing the bat and hit weak grounders to third. Everyone was thrilled to see so many younger players come out, including many kids of present players. All are welcome Sunday mornings; come early and play in both games.
