On Tuesday, May 8, the Martha’s Vineyard Mediation Program (MVMP) and the Edgartown Public Library will co-sponsor a public program to discuss landlord–tenant–shared housing relationships and how to avoid disputes.
According to a press release, the free event will include a panel presentation and a lively discussion session. Panelists include Maura Valley, health agent for the town of Tisbury, who will provide input on the state health code and implications for tenants and landlords; attorney Erik Hammarlund, who will discuss legal aspects of varied housing matters, including leases and evictions; and Sara Barnes, MVMP lead mediator, who will offer input on dispute resolution services for Island landlords and tenants. MVMP especially invites those with experience in shared housing/roommate arrangements to discuss their experiences.
The program will be from 6 to 7:45 pm at the Edgartown library. Attendees will have an opportunity to present issues for consideration, and there will be a discussion period following opening remarks. Light refreshments will be served.
