Chilmark: Hoedown Fundraiser

So happy to see so many daffodils, these are on Middle Road. — Valerie Sonnenthal

The weekend was wonderful, from Saturday surfers, screeching pinkletinks, a riot of daffodils to the Island Community Chorus offering the world premiere of “In Heaven, Hereafter” with soloist Molly Conole, and Kate Taylor helping kick off the music at the Hoedown Fundraiser for Flat Point Farm at the Ag Hall. So many community gatherings always deepening ties of support, besides getting to see so many people I haven’t run into recently, including neighbors Bob and Irene Hungerford. I also loved learning that Irene played pied piper for the escaped sheep and lambs, letting them follow her back to their Beetlebung Farm home, double-checking the gate of course.

Do you know about the Vineyard Conservation Society’s (VCS) Take Back the Tap campaign? In an effort to curb plastic bottle waste, the VCS has been creating water refill stations, which include units at every local school, the hospital, the CCC, the Boys & Girls Club, the Ice Arena, the Ag Hall, and other locations. To fulfill their mission of bringing refill stations to many more Island locations, they need our support. Learn more at vineyardconservation.org.
