Dairy Queen is on the market

The owners of the Edgartown Dairy Queen are looking for new stewards to run the iconic ice cream franchise.

“Business for sale: Iconic Vineyard DQ franchise for sale. Financing support available for the right buyer. Serious interest only please. Send inquiries to cceleste@hatch.us.com,” the ad reads.

Dairy Queen, one of the few national chains on the Island, has a long history on the Vineyard. The first Dairy Queen was built in 1967 by Richard Brown, across the street from where the current one stands today. That space was sold in 1983, and the Island went 10 years without a Dairy Queen before Erika and Tony Bettencourt built the Dairy Queen the Island knows and loves today. In 2017, the Dairy Queen was purchased by the Celeste family.
