May his memory be a blessing.
After a week where we wish we could wrench back time, and undo the unimaginable and heartbreaking death of Frank Edward Rodenbaugh, who would have celebrated his third birthday on May 31.
To his parents, Matt and Julie, and his sister, Clare, we offer our condolences, love, and support.
Honoring our anger and our grief while remembering the love and joy is hard.
In the same week, came news that nine years after a chance meeting between Sydney McAuliffe and Charles Cunningham on a Cape Air flight, they are engaged and planning a June wedding in Chilmark.
In their formal announcement, Sydney’s parents, Robin Rosenberg and Michael McAuliffe, of North Palm Beach and Chilmark, and Charles’s parents, Daphne and John Cunningham of Newton and Chilmark, remind us of the web of our connections as family, community and friends: “Ms. McAuliffe, originally from West Palm Beach, Fla., is the granddaughter of the late Dr. Marvin Rosenberg and Mrs. Baylie Rosenberg of Palm Beach, as well as the late Mr. John McAuliffe and Mrs. Jane McAuliffe of Boerne, Texas. She attended Palm Beach Day School and Dreyfoos School of the Arts, and she is a graduate of Duke University. She is currently enrolled at the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University.
“Mr. Cunningham attended Evanston Township High School, graduated from Tufts University, and is also currently attending the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University. He is the grandson of Mr. John Cunningham and Mrs. Jane Cunningham of McLean, Va., and the late Mr. Frank Hoch and Mrs. Lisina Hoch of Irvington, N.Y, and Chilmark.”
May you be blessed with a life filled with joy and love. May you be lifted through the hard times by a strong and lasting bond.
Please note that this Friday, March 28, at 6:30 pm, there is a Potluck Jam at the Chilmark Community Center featuring Finn Martone, Avery Dewing, Rick O’Gorman, Willy Mason, David Stanwood, Janet Thibodeau, Nathan Hassell, the trio Thurlow, Jepcote, and Robinson, Sarah Shaw Dawson, Isaac Taylor, and Tristan Israel, among others.
Friday, March 28, Rebecca Gilbert and Connie Hyde host the last “Slow Stitching Circle” of the season from 2 to 4 pm at Pathways. After the seed-planting season, Gilbert hinted, they may host it during the summer at Native Earth Teaching Farm. Our fingers are crossed.
Well done, Hollis Oliver, for representing Falmouth Academy and winning an honorable mention at the regional State Science and Engineering Fair for his study, “The Effects of Salinity on Hydroponically Grown Lactuca Sativa.” I love lettuce, and hope he will share his results.
Holding us in the light as we carry on.
