Nobody was hurt after an engine fire engulfed a delivery truck in Edgartown.
Edgartown first responders responded to a box-style delivery truck that was on fire on Barnes Road near the Martha’s Vineyard Airport Business Park entrance. Edgartown Police Sgt. Ryan Ruley said this occurred around 5:30 pm on Thursday. Edgartown Police directed traffic while firefighters put out the flames.
“[We] believe it was mechanical-related,” Ruley said.
According to Ruley, the driver and passenger noticed the truck lost power and pulled over. Once they got out of the vehicle, they saw the fire that started in the engine compartment.
Ruley said no investigation is being conducted and the vehicle was towed by JWL Transport around 7:40 pm.
This is at least the third engine fire that has occurred this summer, including a 1988 Jeep Wagoneer in Chilmark earlier this month and a Ford F-150 truck in West Tisbury in June.
