It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Nick Tuminaro (“Nick”) on July 22, 2026. Nick exuded joy, a passion for life, and a spark that lit up those around him. His generous heart, uplifting presence, and infectious smile touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Born on April 1, 1970, Nick was the beloved eldest son of Dominick and Virginia Tuminaro, and big brother to his three siblings, Dave, Cynthia, and Jonathan. Nick spent nearly 30 years working alongside his father in the family’s pharmacy, and then went on to own his own business through MedXwaste. In both these ventures, Nick built lasting relationships with customers through his work ethic, kindness, dedication, and genuine care for others.
Married on Sept. 30, 2011, Nick was the devoted husband of Susan (“Cherry”) Tuminaro and the proud father of Michael, affectionately known by Nick and Sue as “Smiley.” Michael was
Nick’s greatest joy in life. Nick was a loving father, and enjoyed nothing more than spending time with Smiley. Nick passed on his passions for fishing and basketball to his son. They spent countless hours together on the water and shooting hoops. Nick’s heart swelled with pride whenever he was with Michael, and he shared stories about their times with one another. Michael clearly inherited his dad’s warmth, mischievous spirit, loving nature, and in Nick’s own humble words, his “handsome good looks.”
Nick and Sue created a life together in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., full of love, laughter, and adventure. They enjoyed spending time on the boat, going into town for dinner, taking family vacations, riding bikes together, and making memories with family and friends. No matter where they were, Nick’s happiest moments were those spent with the people he loved most.
An avid outdoorsman, Nick loved hunting and fishing. He treasured every moment surrounded by nature. As a passionate sports fan, Nick was a lifelong supporter of the New York Yankees and the Dallas Cowboys. He rarely missed the opportunity to cheer on the teams he loved and talk trash about their opponents.
Nick also loved to cook and eat. He enjoyed going out to eat, preparing meals for family and friends, experimenting with recipes, spending hours tending to his smoker, and creating delicious food that brought everyone together around the table. Nick and Sue hosted many meals filled with laughter, love, joy, and amazing food.
Perhaps Nick’s greatest gift was his connections with people. His superpower was his ability to create a unique and cherished relationship with each person in his life. He had an incredible way of making you feel welcome, valued, and truly loved. If you met Nick even once, you loved him. His warmth, humor, generosity, playfulness, and magnetic personality left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered.
Nick is survived by his wife, Sue; their son, Michael; and their dog, Chloe, of Saratoga Springs; his parents, Dominick and Virginia Tuminaro of Chambersburg, Pa.; his brother, David Tuminaro, and his wife, Eve Heyman of Oak Bluffs; his sister, Cynthia Rife, and her husband, Ed, of Chambersburg, Pa.; his brother, Jonathan Tuminaro, and his wife Helina of Potomac, Md.; his mother-in-law, Blanca Cherry of Garner, N.C.; his sister-in-law, Laura Cherry Haggett, and her husband, Jim, also of Garner; and his 13 nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father-in-law, Walter, and his brother-in-law, Stephen. He also leaves behind many extended family members, dear friends, and countless people whose lives were enriched by knowing him. Nick fought hard against cancer, but ultimately, he was at peace because of his faith in Jesus.
Nick’s passing leaves a huge void in our lives, but we will carry a bit more joy in our hearts for having known and loved him.
A wake will be held on Thursday, July 30, from 4 to 8 pm at McHoul Funeral Home, 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction, N.Y. The funeral service will be held on Friday, July 31, from 12 to 2 pm at Valley Christian Church, 1072 Route 82, Hopewell Junction, N.Y. Following the funeral service on Friday, a reception for everyone will be held at Whortlekill Rod and Gun Club, 536 NY-376, East Fishkill, N.Y.
