Summer is in full swing, and everyone’s calendars are packed with either 14-hour workdays or vacation days. If you’re in the latter group, enjoy your time on the Island — it’s what we all love to share, welcoming travelers from all over the world. If you’re in the group that’s working 14-hour days, I applaud you, and hope you get some respite soon.

Join Morning Glory Farm every Tuesday in August (August 4, 11, 18, and 25) from 4 to 6 pm for live blues music on the farm front lawn, featuring Jeremy Berlin and Delanie Pickering. This is their third year hosting this summer tradition, and they’re making it even better with food available for purchase on the lawn while you enjoy the music. Bring a lawn chair, bring your favorite beverage, browse the farmstand, and spend the afternoon listening to great live blues in a beautiful setting. Gather your friends and spend your Tuesday afternoons enjoying great music, good food, and a relaxing summer atmosphere. See you on the lawn!

Tour the FARM Institute’s one-acre sunflower field! Pick-your-own sunflowers are available now through mid-August. Each family admission includes up to five guests and a total of a dozen sunflower stems per group. Additional sunflowers are available for purchase onsite, $2 per stem. Preregistration is encouraged, as buckets and clippers are limited. More details at explore.thetrustees.org

On August 15 at 9 am, Run for Jabberwocky 5K takes place at the FARM Institute. Your registration fee not only gets you a very cool Run for Jabberwocky T shirt, but all additional donations received will benefit Camp Jabberwocky, one of the longest-running summer camps for kids and adults with disabilities! Your donations help them keep camp completely free for all campers and their families. Kids fun-run option, too! Register today at runforjabberwocky.org

If you haven’t subscribed to The Grapevine, you should. My most recent piece is titled, “A pastry chef’s guide to ice cream on Martha’s Vineyard,” and dives into the world of sweet frozen treats. Whether you’re a soft-serve loyalist or a gelato enthusiast, I share how to best savor frozen sweet treats on Martha’s Vineyard.

Congrats to Leah and Zoe, the co-organizers for the inaugural Swim Across America — they have raised more than $350,000 for the Mass General Brigham Cancer Institute at Martha’s Vineyard Hospital. They are still accepting donations, so if you can, donate via this link: bit.ly/SAAMV_Donate.

Last but not least, if you’re looking for a caffeine fix in town, the Harbor View Hotel, at its Behind the View bar, has a new coffee program that’s worth checking out! They’re pulling delicious espresso shots for your favorite drinks like lattes, cappuccinos, cortados, and more, including a hand-whisked matcha for the matcha lovers. It’s a great option for coffee (and a quick bite) with a gorgeous lighthouse view!

Happy August, friends, and don’t forget to send me your news, updates, and birthdays — I’d love to share them! Email me at marnely@gmail.com.
