To the Editor:

On Oct. 19, I spent the day at our hospital, first with a nurse practitioner from Dr. Price’s office, then with the office teams in radiology and the lab. My husband Bruce and I were both so impressed by their friendly, helpful behavior, embodying the Island’s happy sense of itself after a satisfying summer. I was unable to walk easily, and the smiling, friendly faces everywhere in the hospital made it so much easier to be rolling around the hallways in a wheelchair.

This warm, friendly atmosphere creates and reflects an atmosphere that flows from and into the Island community. We all know we’re lucky to be living here on Martha’s Vineyard, and our hospital reflects that awareness. It’s here for us when we need it. It works well into Island life, just as our good schools are giving us happy children and our diverse markets give us satisfied patrons. With all this warmth, and my husband’s patient, loving care, I recognize a loving environment.

This thank-you note goes to you all.
