To the Editor:

A few weeks ago, we asked the Vineyard community to help us give our high school football team a better ride to its away game in Orange. And our community really came through! Thanks to the generosity of local businesses, families, friends, and football supporters, we reached our fundraising goal, and raised enough money to charter a coach bus for the team.

We want to extend a heartfelt thank-you to everyone who contributed. As we said in our original letter, this effort was about more than a bus. It was about showing a group of kids and coaches who have worked hard to keep Vineyard football going through some challenging years that their community is behind them. And that’s exactly what you did.

The players and coaches will now be able to make the long trip to Orange in greater comfort, and they’ll do so knowing that their Island community came together to make it happen. We’re grateful for the support, the encouragement, and the enthusiasm we’ve seen for Vineyard football this season. It means a great deal to this program as it continues to rebuild. Thank you! Go Vineyard!
