This weekend promises to be filled with visual entertainment at The Yard with two exciting events. On Friday, July 16 and Sunday, July 18, Art Bridgman and Myrna Packer will perform their Trilogy, “Seductive Reasoning,” “Under the Skin,” and “Memory Bank.” The Trilogy was created in collaboration with filmmakers Peter Bobrow and Jim Monroe and explores the intricacies of identity, gender, perception and intimacy.
Bridgman and Packer are Guggenheim Fellows in Choreography and have collaborated as both performers and choreographers since 1978.
The dancers blur the line between image and reality through interaction with their life-size video images and their use of bodies and costumes as projection screens. Their innovative work developing “video partnering” has been widely acclaimed. “Ingenious…magical and fascinating,” says The New York Times in the event’s press release.
Their performances will take place Friday, July 16, at 8 pm and Sunday, July 18, at 6 pm. Friday’s performance will be followed by dessert and champagne.
Lois Greenfield will offer a rare opportunity to see her photography on Saturday, July 17 at 5:30 pm, where she will also speak about the art of capturing the ephemeral in an informal discussion with the audience.
Ms. Greenfield has been photographing dance for 25 years. Her photos capture dancing bodies in breathtaking moments of flight. “My inspiration has always been in photography’s ability to stop time and reveal what the naked eye cannot see,” she writes in the event’s press release.
The photographer’s portfolio includes an impressive collection of dancers from the Alvin Ailey Dance Theater, the Graham and Paul Taylor companies and the American Ballet Theater, among other prestigious organizations. Her first best-selling book “Breaking Bounds” was published in English, French, and Japanese.
