The 13th annual Water Tasting By-the-Sea event will take place this Thursday, July 29 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at Richard and Nancy Friedman’s estate in an expanded meadow in Edgartown. This annual fundraising event is for Vineyard House, a local organization that provides safe, sober housing for Islanders in early recovery from substance abuse.
The organization operates three sober houses, including one exclusively for women. The Water Tasting raises much-needed funds for operating expenses. Food will be provided by Jan Buhrman of Kitchen Porch Catering and singer-songwriter Liz Longley will play her unique brand of cross-genre acoustic material that draws from pop, country, and jazz.
The event will notably be alcohol-free. Instead of wine, beer, and spirits, ice cold waters provided by event co-sponsors Nestle will be served. “It’s important to convey the message that you don’t need to drink alcohol to have a good time,” John Early, co-vice president, says in the event’s press release. “And a good time is always had at this alcohol-free event.”
Tickets are $75 and can be purchased at ticketsmv.com
