It does not look like anyone will be hitting the sledding hill this winter break. Or even donning a winter coat, for that matter. It is positively spring-like outside. Perfect weather for taking long walks and contemplating what exactly we resolve to change or improve on in the new year. Wishing a happy and healthy 2012 to one and all.
Congratulations to Natasha Snowden for completing her doctorate in physical therapy at Simmons College. Next Tash will be beginning a residency in West Bridgewater before deciding where she would like to practice in the future. I for one hope we get her back on the rock, but we’ll see.
Fred Keillor will be making his annual migration to Tortola on New Year’s Day. Hope you have a nice winter with your toes in the sand.
It has been a quiet week in the inbox over here in column land. And as it should be. All of you have been off spending quality time with your fams, as have I. The next place I turn for news is my Facebook feed, but that is currently inundated with alternating quotes from “Elf” and “A Christmas Story.” So for this week, in the spirit of giving, I will lift my ban on non-Edgartown news items and share some events from other towns. You know what? It’s time for you to get out of your PJs and off the couch anyway, so why not trek to a neighboring village?

Happy birthday to Matthew Dello Russo, who celebrates December 27. Special healing birthday wishes go out to Alex Avakian, December 30, who amid holiday revelry managed to break an ankle. Take it easy, bud, and let someone else cook for you for a change. Additional birthday wishes go out to Holly Bruguiere, January 1, and to Deborah Elias, January 4. Hope it’s a good one!
