Gay Head 10K attracted stalwart runners for a good cause

The driving rain stopped, but not the howling northeast winds, as a total of 96 runners started off on the Gay Head 10k road race finish line Sunday to help fund the continued restoration and maintenance of the newly relocated Gay Head Lighthouse.

The race started under the beam of the Gay Head Lighthouse, then proceeded down the hill past the Aquinnah Cultural Center onto State Road, around Moshup Trail, and back to the loop at the Cliffs and the finish line.

Rene Da Silva of Vineyard Haven won the men’s division. Alex Testa, 24, of Somerville won the women’s division.
