Island Gymnastics sent four gymnasts to the Xcel Bronze Massachusetts State Championships on Sunday, May 14, in Wilmington, joined by their coach Beth Goodell.
In the child division, Grace Voshell placed third in vault (9.25), second in bars (9.4), first in beam (9.35), and third in floor (9.2). Grace took home an all-around trophy for second place with 37.2, one of the highest all-around scores for Island Gymnastics.
Gymnasts Elizabeth Thompson, Gabrielle Guimaraes, and Nikita Kleeman competed for the first time at states. Elizabeth placed fourth in bars (8.9) and fifth in floor (9.1). Elizabeth took home an all-around trophy for seventh place (36.3).
Nikita Kleeman was eighth in vault (9.15) and seventh in floor (9.05). Gabrielle Guimaraes placed ninth in floor, with a score of 9.0.
