The Road

All that came before ––
history’s turns and twists
some so gradual
it was hard to tell
anything had changed
and others so abrupt
we became deranged
has brought us to here
where all is again transforming
but if we look from within
past today’s strangeness
we see a shining road traveled
with each curve purposeful
and its design
a jeweled marvel.
