Enjoy a free live concert by the Bad Penny Pleasuremakers on Wednesday, Oct. 14, from 4 to 5 pm. The Bad Penny Pleasuremakers are a New Orleans–based traditional jazz band featuring talented multi-instrumentalists who share a passion for the early days of jazz, blues, and country. Their music honors the spirit of these traditions while bringing a unique spark to each performance.

The show will feature Matt Bell on guitar, banjo, and vocals; Joy Patterson on percussion and vocals; Coleman Akin on violin, guitar, and vocals; Jonathan Greene on reeds; and Joplin Parnell on piano and vocals. 

About the group: Bell, based in New Orleans, has a master’s degree in music from the University of New Orleans, and performs traditional jazz and old-time country music. Patterson is a vocalist and percussionist active in New Orleans’ blues, jazz, and country music communities. Akin specializes in string instruments and vocals, and has performed with groups including Frog & Henry, Leonie Evans, Crazy Arms, and the Clover Valley Boys. Clarinetist and reed player Greene performs in a wide variety of styles, including classical, jazz, and world music. Parnell is a pianist and vocalist whose musical influences include New Orleans rhythm & blues, Brazilian choro, New York stride, French musette, and tango.
