Patriots Environmental Corp., the firm hired to prepare the site for the new Edgartown Public Library, began demolition of the old Edgartown School cafeteria last Thursday morning.
Great care and effort was taken to recycle materials. As the machine operator tore into the building, workers separated steel beams, other metals, and several huge roof beams and set them aside.
The derelict elementary school building, which hasn't been used for 13 years, is being demolished to make room for the new public library, scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2015.
