The Martha’s Vineyard Mediation Program (MVMP) recently held a 32-hour, 4-day training program on basic mediation philosophy and skills, the fifth such program in the non-profit organization’s 25-year history.

Belinda Gehris and Carol Hess from Hess-Gehris Solutions trained a class of 19 men and women.

MVMP is licensed as a recognized court-annexed mediation program by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and provides trained mediators to work with the Dukes County District Court’s small claims division.

As a result of their recent training, 14 of the new mediators will meet on April 26 with Liza Williamson, clerk/magistrate of the Dukes County District Court, to prepare for serving in small claims court, according to an MVMP press release.

The organization also provides affordable mediation services to the community in the areas of business, family, and community relations.
