The Martha’s Vineyard Savings Bank Charitable Fund awarded grants totaling $9,500 to six Island nonprofits this spring. In the first of four grant cycles in 2010, the fund provided awards to Felix Neck Wildlife Sanctuary, Friends of the Homeless, Martha’s Vineyard Cancer Support Group, Polly Hill Arboretum, Sail Martha’s Vineyard, and The Yard.
“We are starting the new year with a renewal of our longstanding commitment to helping make a difference in the quality of life on the Vineyard,” Chris Wells, President of the Martha’s Vineyard Savings Bank, said. “It is our responsibility to provide the Island community with both outstanding financial services through the work of the Martha’s Vineyard Savings Bank and meaningful funding for nonprofit organizations through the Martha’s Vineyard Savings Bank Charitable Fund. Through these efforts we are trying to do our part to support this wonderfully caring and engaged community.”
The Charitable Fund is the Bank’s primary source for providing philanthropic support for nonprofit and community service organizations operating throughout the local area. The Charitable Fund reviews requests for support quarterly. More information about the Martha’s Vineyard Savings Bank Charitable Fund and its community grant program is available online at mvbank.com.
