Comcast executives, including area vice-president Mary McLaughlin, visited the new YMCA Tuesday, highlighting the company’s charitable contributions and some of its new products.
Comcast donated $30,000 for the YMCA project, and has contributed to other Island causes, including the Boys and Girls Club, Habitat for Humanity, and the Possible Dreams Auction, according to Ms. McLaughlin.
The company is also promoting Xfinity, a rebranding and upgrading of its cable, phone, and internet offerings.
Ms. McLaughlin said Comcast is making internet service available to Island customers at speeds of up to 50 megabytes per second, with plans to double that in the near future.
Comcast’s 10-year contract with Island towns expires next year, and the company is beginning negotiation for a new contract.
