This summer, three Martha’s Vineyard residents raised $39,371 for cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, by riding up to 190 miles in the Pan-Massachusetts Challenge. Their effort helped the PMC raise $33 million and bring the organization’s 31-year total Jimmy Fund contribution to $303 million.

Erik Blake of Oak Bluffs, Roch Hillenbrand of Edgartown, and Eric Berke of Aquinnah were among 5,000 cyclists from 34 states and six countries that participated in the two-day event.

On Nov. 12, the Pan-Massachusetts Challenge presented a check for $33 million to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. The 2010 fundraising total was $2.6 million, or 8.6 percent, more than the organization gave in 2009.

The 32nd annual PMC is set for August 6 and 7, 2011. Registration opens online on January 11 for alumni and January 18 for newcomers. For more information about the PMC, visit pmc.org.
