Spring flowers aren’t the only things blooming in Edgartown. There are lights brightening downtown with stores, new and old, getting ready to open for the season. Edgartown has some new stores opening and new locations for some of your favorites.
Fitness buffs will be thrilled with Main Street’s happenings. There is an innovative new store arriving this spring at 29 Main Street — and sorry boys, it’s all about the women. The new venue is GettiGear, Athletic Apparel for Women. This unique store originated in Hingham and has decided to bring their expansive line of athletic and active apparel to you on the Vineyard. According to their comprehensive website, gettigear.com, the store “encourages women of all sizes including plus to get active and look good doing it.” Furthermore, they “carry many eco-friendly accessories and muscle-relaxing products such as foam rollers, Trigger Point Therapy tools, yoga mats, golf and tennis accessories, and many more.” With a passion for active lifestyles and a store named after their beloved family dog, it seems as though they’ll fit right in our community.
Another active store, this time on the move, is The Boneyard Surf Shop, which since their inception in 2002, has moved and grown into their new premiere location at 47 Main Street. Yes, it previously was the home to Edgartown Hardware (which has now moved to the Edgartown-West Tisbury Road, across from the Edgartown School) and will now be in a wonderful, convenient location for those searching for “the freshest skate and surf gear the Island has to offer,” according to their website theboneyardsurfshop.com. They are re-opening in their new location soon.
Wheel Happy, an Island staple for more years than many can remember, is joining the ranks of those deciding to relocate and expand their digs. Wheel Happy has now relocated from their 8 South Water Street home to their new storefront located in the Old Post Office Square off of Main and Church Streets (across from Espresso Love and Lattanzi’s).
Other additions to downtown Edgartown is NRO Kids, which will sell a new line of kids clothing from North River Outfitter. Another much-anticipated addition is Black Sheep, a gourmet shop that will be located at 18 North Summer Street. Both venues plan on opening in May.
Vineyard Vines runs for the roses
While not a new store or venue, Vineyard Vines has achieved a wonderful milestone in which they have begun carrying a new collection: The Official Style of The Kentucky Derby. Vineyard Vines is calling all to try their limited collection perfect for a day at the races, according to the website, vineyardvines.com.
You may view and purchase your favorites from their new collection in store or via their website. They encourage you to check back as more items are added to their current collection that includes silk sashes, scarves, day bags, ties, belts, and classic totes.
With all these breaths of fresh air, spring has made Edgartown bloom.
