Leaves are falling, the streets are quieting in anticipation of the winter season, but for us it could be the perfect time to stock up early on presents at reduced rates.
While some of our favorite stores have already closed for the season, there are still many staying open through this weekend’s Veterans Day holiday and offering big sales to try and clear their shelves before the store goes to slumber.
For those off-Island family and friends who have visited and fallen in love with the Island, a Vineyard inspired logo’d piece of clothing might be the best way to go for this year’s holiday gift. Lucky for you many of our well-known clothing stores are offering anywhere from 20 to 75 percent off their logo’d clothing.
In Vineyard Haven, one of the most well known Island brands, Menemsha Blues, located adjacent to the Stop & Shop parking lot, is hosting their Blueswear Sale with their entire store 40 percent off. What a great time to get a comfortable performance polo, heavy hoodie for a trip to the gym, or a dash tee cause it looks so good. Island Treasures Gifts, across from the Steamship Authority, offers Vineyard logo’d t-shirts, sweatshirts, and gifts at a fraction of their price. And Beetlebung, known now for more than just great coffee, has gotten into the sale mix at their storefront on Main Street. Beetlebung’s clothing and accessory lines display graphical concepts that are inspired by the Island.
Oak Bluffs also has many stores offering high quality comfortable clothing and accessory options that have a Martha’s Vineyard logo, now at a sale price. Tease Outlet MV on Circuit Avenue offers tee shirts for $5 and sweatshirts for $10. Next door at Soft As A Grape, you will find the entire store filled with hoodies, Resort Wear, bags, and accessories for the whole family and all at 50 percent off.
Just up the block is Eastaway Clothing, a sister store to our year-round staple Basic’s Clothing Co., is getting ready to close for the season and wants to empty their store before they do. While they have some great logo clothing options, like colorful fleeces for $12.99, they also have some designer and stylish clothes that would be perfect for any age and it is all 50 percent off the originally marked price. While on Circuit Avenue, make sure to pay close attention to many of the other stores still open, as most are offering similar sales on similarly great items.
Edgartown also wishes not to be outdone in the logo’d clothing category as exhibited by the 50 percent off storewide sale at Shirt Tales on Main Street. Here they have a variety of tee shirts, sweatshirts, hats, and pants for the whole family by such brand names as Gear, Champion, and Life is Good. Everyone on your holiday list will be happy you remembered them with one of these great gifts, or just buy something for yourself.
Red Stocking shopping
The Collection, a women’s clothing and shoe store on Union Street in Vineyard Haven, is offering a discount in exchange for a Red Stocking Fund donation. During the entire month of November, any shopper bringing in a new item — toy, book, or article of clothing for kids — will receive 15 percent off the store’s selection of contemporary clothes, accessories, shoes, and boots. The Red Stocking Fund provides Christmas gifts for families in need.
