The West Tisbury Hawks served up an interscholastic volleyball championship on April 11 with a five-set win over the Oak Bluffs Blazers in front of an enthusiastic home crowd at the West Tisbury School.
Both teams were superb at the net and left it all out on the floor. The Hawks took the first two sets, 25-21 and 25-23. The Blazers fought back to tie the match at two sets apiece with a dominating 25-12 win in the third set and a 25-22 edge in the fourth.
West Tisbury saved its best for last and won the title by a 15-5 score in the decisive fifth set.
The Hawks reached the final with a straight-set win over Edgartown in the semi-finals, 25-15, 25-17, 25-16.
