Garden Gate celebrates children’s art

Children from the past 12 years of classes at Garden Gate Child Development Center in Tisbury will show their work in the Pebble Gallery at Featherstone Center for the Arts on July 19 and 20.

The organization will sponsor an opening on Thursday, July 19, from 5 to 7 pm and on Friday, July 20, from 6 to 8 pm.

Antoinette Noble exhibits, speaks at Shaw Cramer

Antoinette Noble, whose collages and oil paintings are on display at Shaw Cramer Gallery through July 24, will give a talk July 24 at 6 pm. The subject is the process by which she created her new work. Titled Word Series, the current exhibit takes her in a new direction, and it is her first solo show at the gallery. Gay Head Gallery postpones MegaFauna show

Although its complete MegaFauna Show will not happen until 2013, Gay Head Gallery will still present texts and work related to the show’s theme.

Old Sculpin spotlights Clough, Fane, and Schoppe

Three Martha’s Vineyard Art Association artists will be on view at the MVAA’s Edgartown Gallery, Old Sculpin, beginning July 21. Marston Clough will display his oil and encaustic paintings, as well as photographs. Sheila M. Fane will present linoleum prints, monotypes, and paper sculptures. North Water Gallery plans plein-air event

A bevy of artists from North Water, Field, and Granary galleries will participate in a special plein-air event July 23 and 24, from 10 am to 4 pm. Artists from the three galleries will check in July 23 at North Water and then produce new paintings on one or both days.

Chilmark bank displays Linda Thompson’s oils

Up-Island landmarks like the Allen Farm and Menemsha provide the subject for a group of oil paintings by Chilmark artist Linda Thompson at the Bank of Martha’s Vineyard. Two events open at Featherstone

Metamorphoses: Change and Transformation is the title of a new show opening at Featherstone Center for the Arts on July 22. Featherstone instructors Nancy Blank and Roberta Gross will present explorations of media and form in their collages. An opening for the event takes place July 22, from 4 to 6 pm in the Virginia Weston Besse Gallery.
