The Vineyard boys varsity lacrosse team couldn’t have started the new season any better. Tuesday in Attleboro, Tony Canha scored with 18 ticks left on the clock to lift the Vineyarders to an 8-7 win over Eastern Athletic Conference rival Bishop Feehan. The win was the Purple’s second against the Shamrocks since joining the EAC.
Canha scored after winning the faceoff, rushing down the right flank, and firing a bounce shot into the cage.
Sam Burke and Taymon Brown tallied two goals and two assists. Mike Morris had two goals and Tyler Paulson scored once.
Two Vineyarders tended goal. Eli Laikan made six saves in the first half, while Cooper Wilson had eight in the second half.
