Liverpool (Red) edged Chelsea (Blue) 2-1 on Wednesday, Sept. 24, to move into first place in the newly formed Island Soccer League for 5th through 8th graders. Liverpool’s goals were scored by Ty Mathew and Robe Della Torre, while Daniel Bonneau scored for Chelsea.
In other action, two goals by Lucas Goncalves helped Celtic (Green) nip Arsenal (Gold) 3-2. Jack Holmes scored Celtic’s other goal, and Lucas Reis and Morgan Estrella tallied for Arsenal.
In opening-day action on Sept. 17, Liverpool squeaked by Celtic 2-1 on goals by Ty Mathew and Emmett Athearn. Celtic’s lone goal was scored by Niko Pecararo. In the other opening-day match, late second-half goals by Daniel Bonneau and Owen Atkins broke open a closely contested match between Chelsea and Arsenal, with Chelsea winning 4-2. Chelsea’s other goals were scored by Finn Monahan and Josh Billings. Arsenal’s goals were scored by Lucas Reis and Ruairi Mullin.
Games are played every Wednesday at 4:30 pm on the front fields at West Tisbury School.
