Mediation workshop will explore issues between landlords and tenants

The Martha’s Vineyard Mediation Program will be conducting a free workshop on Friday, May 15, from 10 am to noon at the Edgartown Town Hall meeting room. Vineyard attorney T. George Davis and Maura Valley, health agent for the Town of Tisbury, along with David Vigneault of the Dukes County Housing Authority, will present an overview of current Massachusetts laws governing landlord – tenant residential rentals.

The Martha’s Vineyard Mediation Program, also called the Martha’s Vineyard Center for Dispute Resolution has conducted mediation in courts and the Island community for the past 30 years. According to a press release, the group believes that educational workshops such as this will better inform Vineyarders of their responsibilities as property owners and renters, and may minimize the risk of disputes, particularly among those who find themselves in the court system.
