Three Island skeet shooters, Dick Carlson and Ray Sylvia of Oak Bluffs, and Matt Gamache of Vineyard Haven, traveled to the Wallum Lake Rod and Gun Club in Rhode Island Sunday to test their skills against skeet shooters from around the region in a National Skeet Association–sanctioned shoot.
Mr. Carlson won in the class A division with a score of 99 out of 100 targets. In a four-way shootoff for the championship, he came in second.
Mr. Sylvia clinched the class E division with a score of 91.
