The Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School varsity boys soccer team soundly defeated Bishop Stang, four goals to one, last Thursday.

“We were looking forward to playing this team. It’s a very tough team to play, with a very good coach,” Vineyard Coach Esteban Aranzabe said. “When we play on the Vineyard, we like to win our games, and show the parents and the community that we are working hard, and we are very proud of our team.”

Thursday’s performance certainly made parents proud, with a good crowd in attendance and very vocal support from fans on the sidelines.

“It’s a brand-new team — we lost last year 14 seniors — so step by step, little by little, we are getting better, and we expect to make the playoff,” Coach Aranzabe said.
