Friday last, a very important event was held at the Oak Bluffs School. It was the kindergarten graduation, for 40-plus students. Family members and friends filled the bleachers to witness as the students marched into the gym proudly wearing mortarboards they had made, with
huge smiles on their faces. What a pleasure it was to see so much happiness as all received their diplomas and were greeted by applause and cheers. Parents, teachers, and students all worked together to bring this special day to a happy conclusion. Congratulations to everyone. Just think: Only 12 more years to 2028, and it will be high school graduation time for this class.

Our condolences and sympathy go out to the Gurney family for the loss of their husband and father Luke. A much-loved and respected father, husband, and fisherman, he perished in an accident at sea last week. His sons, Jacob and Sam Gurney, ages 13 and 11, have been invited presenters at the National Fossil Day every year, with the support of their loving family. We are so very sorry. Robert Gatchell of Splinters and Sawdust has crafted 22 lighthouses. Eleven of the 22 will be donated to the P.A. Club for their July Feast, and will be auctioned off in memory of friends who have passed away in the past year. Among them is one in memory of my late husband, retired Fire Chief Dennis Ally. The lighthouses will look like the Edgartown or East Chop lighthouses, and are about 32 inches tall, with a solar-powered light on top.
