The Monomoy Sharks took a bite out of the visiting Vineyarders with a 39-35 Cape and Islands League girls basketball win, Monday afternoon in Harwich.

Riley Yuhas sank a trio of treys for MV to finish with nine points, but Mackenzie Balfore and Maggie Dever each scored 16 points for the Sharks, who avenged a 32-21 loss to the Vineyarders on Dec. 11 in Oak Bluffs.

“Disappointing, to say the least,” Vineyard Coach Sterling Bishop said. “We turned the ball over a lot. Monomoy came out aggressive on defense, and we weren’t ready.”

Kylie Estrella and Taylor Hughes chipped in six points apiece for the Vineyarders (6-6 overall, 6-4 C & I) who look to get back on the winning track at home against Cape Cod Academy on Jan. 31 (4:30 pm tip-off).
