Island gymnasts Crawford, Goodale, and Edelman shine at Platinum State Championships

Island Gymnastics Training School sent its Platinum XCEL team to the Xcel Platinum State Championships at Fitchburg High School on Sunday, April 28. All three gymnasts are in their first year competing at this level, and were the youngest team to compete at the meet.

Gymnast Sara Goodale started off first on bars, and nailed a personal best routine, scoring a third place with a 9.2. Sara also placed on vault with a 8.925, earning fifth place.

Molly Crawford, the youngest gymnast of the entire meet, also had a personal best routine on bars, scoring a 9.15 and earning fourth place. On floor, Molly earned second place with a score of 9.4. Arianna Edelman’s bar score of 8.5 earned her eighth place.

In the All-Around awards, Molly Crawford earned fourth place with a 36.475. Sara Goodale placed eighth with a 35.725, and Arianna Edelman placed 10th with a 35.425.

This was the final meet of the competitive season for these gymnasts, who are coached by Beth Goodall. Up next for Island Gymnastics is the Bronze XCEL meet over Mother’s Day weekend.
