Last year the MV Times and Islanders Write launched Islanders Write Immersives, a series of online writing workshops. We will again offer online writing classes this winter.   Are you interested in taking a class in memoir writing? Children’s book writing? Poetry? Essay and opinion writing? Food writing? Travel writing? Editing and Revisions? Plot and character? Songwriting? Getting published – self-publishing, hybrid, and traditional? Marketing and publicity?

Please click here to take our survey. We look forward to hearing from you.

While we’re just starting to put together the full catalog, we can confirm two workshops, one for beginnings and one for endings.

We’re delighted Sharisse Scott-Rawlins will again gear us up for the new year with a “Jumpstart your year – 30-Day Writing Challenge” on Sunday, January 3, and Sunday, January 31.

And as for endings, Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Bob Drogin, who has written nearly 40 advance obituaries for The Washington Post and New York Times, will teach a class called: “Writing the Last Word” on Tuesday, April 6, and Tuesday, April 13.

We will add more classes after we hear from you.

Islanders Write on-line immersives are a way to work with Islanders Write authors in the off-season and a way to support our free in-person programming.

WANT TO WRITE FOR THE MV TIMES? The Times is looking for Vineyard-based writers, with an understanding of Island life, to contribute articles to the Community and Calendar section. Some experience writing for publications would help but we also can also work with beginners with enthusiasm, curiosity, and a way with words. Payment for each published story!
