The Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School (MVRHS) girls tennis team keeps rolling along.

The Vineyarders downed Eastern Athletic Conference (EAC) rival Bishop Feehan, 5-0, on a chilly, blustery Thursday afternoon at the Ned Fennessy Courts in Oak Bluffs.

Just past the midway point of the season, the two-time defending state champions are 10-0 and winners of 53 consecutive matches.

The first singles match proved to be the most competitive of the day, with Kat Roberts prevailing over Ali Sollecito, 6-2, 6-2. Kelly Klaren topped Lauren Falvey at second singles 6-0, 6-1, and Hannah Rabasca scored a 6-0, 6-0, double bagel against Chloe Burke at third singles.

The first doubles pair of Victoria Scott and Lizzie Williamson rolled past Maddie Butkas and Becca Choiniere 6-2, 6-0, while the Pogue sisters, Molly and Paige, defeated Iris Neubecker and Akansha Deshpande 6-1, 6-2, at second doubles.

“They [Bishop Feehan] were tough competitors,” Vineyard co-head Coach Nina Bramhall said following the win. “That was a well-fought match, particularly at No. 1 singles, and we should feel really good about it and about where we are in the season in general.”

The Vineyarders host Bishop Stang on May 12 at 3 pm before heading to the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) individual tournament, which begins on May 13. For the first time in several years, the entire Vineyard varsity lineup will take part. The singles competition will be held at Old Rochester Regional High School in Mattapoisett. Down the road a piece at Wareham High, defending state champions Victoria Scott and Lizzie Williamson will start defense of their doubles crown.
