Herbert Eugene Isaacs died in Jackson, Mich., on July 14. He was 88.
Born in Tisbury on June 25, 1923, he graduated from Tisbury High School in 1941. He served in the Army Air Force from 1942-46. After WW II, he attended Arizona State College and Arizona Tech. He was an industrial engineer with Goodyear Tire and Rubber.
From 1981 to 1983 he managed the Vineyard Harbor Motel. He worked for Cochran Plumbing from 1983 to 1988. He served on the Tisbury Board of Appeals.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce, and children Deborah Ray, Patricia Kirk, Karen Boucher, Sharon Ambs, Darlene Grohalski, Lloyd Leslie, and Anne Leslie.
He was predeceased by his mother, Mary Rose Isaacs, and his father, Eugene Isaacs.
His ashes will be buried in Oak Grove Cemetery in the fall.
