To The Editor:
We thank all our friends and customers who supported us throughout the past three years. Closing the Menemsha Café was very difficult, both for us and for our adopted up-Island communities. We will miss everyone who made our café feel like a comfortable living room — from the town hall employees, the up-Island police departments, to the fire chief, and of course to Keith and Hutch.
There are so many people we would like to thank individually, but the list is too long. To the farmers who provided us with fresh eggs, meat, and produce, the fishermen who provided us local fish, and the artists who hung their beautiful paintings: We feel our café would not have been so comfortable without you.
To the summer folks who came every day and those just passing through, we will miss your smiling, happy vacationing faces. To the “Old Salts” and the “In The Trades” locals, we will truly miss everyone. And to Nancy and Joel Aronie, for their ultimate support when things broke, deliveries were wrong, or when things went generally awry, and to our close friends Omar and Sheila Rayyan, who printed, copied and graphically took us out of the Dark Ages. To everyone, thank you. Please don’t be strangers when we reopen in a new location.
