Saturday fun at Native Earth

Food is the way to most any animal's heart, as Karinne Nivala discovered at last year's festival.
The eighth annual Popcorn Festival at Native Earth Teaching Farm is this Saturday, followed by the farm's first fundraising Pig Roast. From 10 am to 3 pm, the farm will be transformed to a haven of fun for kids — with plant dying with natural dyes, animal visits, Capoeira demonstrations, cider pressing, and free popcorn. At 5 pm, enjoy a classic organic country-cooked pig. Tickets are $75, but owner Rebecca Gilbert is quick to point out that bartering is welcome, and helpers get big discounts.
