Tennis players raise funds for Haiti

The Vineyard Tennis Center, Workout, and Spa hosted the Winter Classic Tennis Tournament on Saturday and Sunday. Proceeds were given to Doctors Without Borders for Haiti.

The draw hosted women’s doubles players rated 3.5 and under.

Jeanne Holenko and Tammy King won the event, taking all three matches in tie-breakers.

They defeated Kelly Hess and Charlene Gatting in round one 7-5, 5-7, and 10-5 in the tie-breaker, bested Mollie Lewis and Julie Lively, 6-3, 1-6, 10-4 in round two, and won the championship over Ann Williamson and Natalie Krauthauer, 6-2, 2-6, 10-4.

The consolation final also ended in a tie-breaker with Sue Peltier and Susan Stevens, emerging victorious over Leo McHugh and Michelle Bettencourt, 6-4, 4-6, and 10-5.
