Vineyard golfers get MVRHS fall sports off to good start

The Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School golf team was the first to play a varsity contest in the new school year and got the fall sports season off to a good start with a 249-271 win over the Nauset Warriors, Friday afternoon at the Edgartown Golf Club.

Kat deBettencourt had the low score of 40 for the Vineyarders, defeating Nauset’s Wes Brown by five strokes.

M.V. swept the Warriors six matches to none. Mike deBettencourt downed Ethan Ladue 41-46, Justin Smith beat Ben Rome by the same score, Chris Morris bested Sam Nyberg 42-46, Matt Marchand defeated Charlie Brooks 42-49, and Cal Fiore topped John McLaughlin 43-49.
